a celebration of fabulous women and their old girls
Old Girls on The Road is a community group (not a club) for women who own and drive classic cars. We are all about getting our fabulous cars out on the road and driving them.
Founded at the end of 2016 the group is run by Tracey Walker. Tracey coordinates four or more ‘Girly Runs’ a year in the South East Queensland area, distributes a newsletter about once a month and administers a Facebook Page; Old Girls in The Road and a Group; Old Girls on The Road South East Queensland and Surrounds.
In 2018 Tracey produced a web series that follows herself as she and photographer Rachael Baskerville interview female classic car owners and conduct photo shoots of them and their beloved cars for the 2019 calendar. Produced by a small Brisbane based documentary team, Old Girls on The Road - The Calendar Series can be viewed on YouTube now.
Since then Tracey has produced Calendars for 2022 and 2023, and hopes to keep producing them - global viruses permitting!

About Tracey Walker
Tracey Walker began writing illustrated children’s stories over 30 years ago. She went on to write short fiction for adults. In 1994 Watch Me Jump was published by Australian Women’s Forum and another short story The Divine Pink Outfit was optioned by Women’s Weekly. Tracey then concentrated on writing novels but her passion for fictional writing was put on hold when she became a single parent to four teenagers in 2000. Since then she has worked as a project manager and administrator in the areas of writing and publishing, visual arts and film.
In 2010 when her kids were mostly grown up she found time to get back to writing. She adapted her short story Watch Me Jump to a screenplay which was produced in 2010. Titled Pushbike the film screened at around 20 national and international Film Festivals winning a handful of awards including Best Screenplay at the Amsterdam Film Festival.
Tracey has also been involved in a few collaborative Art Exhibitions with her sculpture and mixed medium visual artworks.

Old Girls on The Road Fact Sheet as at 24 June 2024
Formed late 2016, with a view to celebrate the 50th birthday of Blanche, Tracey’s 1967 Ford Mk2 Cortina’s 50th birthday. The party was held at Coorparoo Bowls Club with cake, champagne, music and about 13 old girls on display.
Old Girls on The Road is a group for women who own and love to DRIVE their classic cars out on the road. The Old Girls in the groups name primarily refers to the cars, however the pun on the women being old girls is quite intentional 😉 None of us are girls, we’re old girls who still wanna have fun.
Since Blanche’s birthday party Tracey organises around 4 ‘Girly Runs’ a year. These runs usually involve anywhere between 10 and 30 cars and about an hour drive to a pub or picnic grounds for lunch. Cars must be driven by female owners, men welcome. The group has had 23 runs to date.
Headquarters and usual meet place for runs is at Darra, Brisbane.
